The #Cubs have fired respected pitching coach Chris Bosio, and now could reach out to Jim Hickey, who's a top candidate for #STLCards opening

Unfortunately, I think this puts Hickey in Chicago, reunited with Maddon.

Has Maloney been given a new job yet?

Though, Rob Rains seems to think Shildt would be the leading candidate.

Re: 2017 Offseason News Thread

David Bell has taken a job as the Giants' Farm Director. Cards will need a new bench coach this winter too.

Re: League Discussion Thread

Joseph Franklin and his 64 HRs won the MVP this year. First Aces MVP since Wayne Judge in 2080 and, in an oddity, both are catchers.

Greg Nelson, who I got when Bayside and I swapped our 1/2 picks in the Franklin trade, had a coming out year at age 24 with a 2.39 ERA over 264 innings.

Now we need the Astros to turn it around. Though neither has lost at home yet. So it's still not a series.

I was honestly surprised he stuck around this year. Lots of people wanting him to come back and replace Mo or Matheny, but in his statement TLR said the job was more demanding than he realized. Not the words of a guy ready or willing to jump into another front office or managerial job.

Re: 2017 Be the GM Thread

Also, I feel that he sometimes changes pitchers too soon. Other times, he will let a pitcher continue until there is no way the Cardinals can possibly catch up. The run count just got out of reach. I know this sound contradictory, but there is a balancing point. However, he has no clue about that o...

What can you do when your top-5 offense scores 2 runs in 4 games? Nothing. :x

Re: Official 2017 PostSeason Playoff Thread

Sabathia is my one hope that Wainwright can become a moderately productive starting pitcher again. Though I don't think Wainwright has a drinking problem he can go to rehab for. CC's had a great turnaround for the Yankees and been a key part of their success this year. And they backed him up last ni...

As a society, we have to placing people on a false pedestal. If there’s any good that may come from the Trump presidency, maybe it will be that we finally start seeing real people run for office instead of these corporately manufactured fools. That's funny. I think it forces the real people out bec...

But, generally-speaking, I agree with you. Just not when a public figure publicly comments on the same issue & is close to the accused. I agree, but did we expect Hillary to say, "I support him and am totally acceptable with him sexual assaulting people." No, I think we could have all...

Re: Did you see that?

On 8/21 to close out a 4-3 victory, new Aces closer David Prettyman threw the closest to an immaculate inning as I've ever personally witnessed in this game. 3 strikeouts, 9 strikes, 10 pitches. So close.
