Re: Game #23: Reds @ Cardinals: 04/28/2017: 7:15 PM

Cardinals win 7-5.

Yadi with a great pick off of third base. Lynn walked a batter to load the bases and the guy who went to third tagged third and went a few more steps before turning around and slowly walking back. Molina fires to third and Gyorko tags him out. Beautiful play.

Re: Game #22: Blue Jays @ Cardinals: 04/27/2017: 6:15 PM

Offense showed up today. Adams with a 3-for-3 day. Fowler goes 3-for-4 with a walk. Garcia goes 3-for-3 with a walk.

But let's remember the Blue Jays have the worst record in baseball. So it may not mean much.

Rosenthal was also tossing fire in the 9th. PitchFX showing him at 102 mph at one point.

Re: Game #21: Blue Jays @ Cardinals: 04/27/2017: 12:45 PM

Grichuk's 2 run shot ties the game at 4-4 with 2 out in the 9th. Now in the 10th. Somehow, we're still in this thing.... 8-) This is exactly what I was thinking. How after 2 more errors and 2 more AWFUL baserunning blunders are they still in this game? It's those kind of things that make you wonder...

Re: Game #21: Blue Jays @ Cardinals: 04/27/2017: 12:45 PM

Looks like Matheny was just trolling us with the Carpenter hitting second stuff on Tuesday. He's back and hitting third today. Cardinals Lineup, Game 1: 1. Dexter Fowler - CF 2. Aledmys Diaz - SS 3. Matt Carpenter - 1B 4. Jedd Gyorko - 3B 5. Stephen Piscotty - RF 6. Yadier Molina - C 7. Jose Martine...

Re: Game #21: Blue Jays @ Cardinals: 04/26/2017: 7:15 PM

Game 21: Martinez v TBD Carlos Martinez (0-3, 4.76 ERA) has struggled for consistent focus since dominating the Cubs on Opening Night. His last time out, he allowed 5 runs over 5 innings against the Brewers as he struggled with his mechanics. There was a distinct difference in his demeanor on the m...

Re: Game #20: Blue Jays @ Cardinals: 04/25/2017: 7:15 PM

4 errors you lose! And still almost won, which was ridiculous. The final one was the only one I saw since I started watching about the 8th inning. Saw it coming. Diaz rushed the throw. Same kind of mistakes he was making early last year. And with how far Martinez's broken bat final out went, makes ...

Re: Game #20: Blue Jays @ Cardinals: 04/25/2017: 7:15 PM

Carpenter has received a one game suspension for bumping the umpire and will serve it tonight. Updated lineup (past 10 games): Fowler CF (.167/.205/.389, 2 HR, 3 RBI) Diaz SS (.222/.243/.361, 1 HR, 2 RBI) Piscotty RF (.182/.325/.273, 1 HR, 2 RBI) Gyorko 3B (.400/.500/.900, 2 HR, 3 RBI) Molina C (.22...

Re: Game #20: Blue Jays @ Cardinals: 04/25/2017: 7:15 PM

It's really the next 16 that are big. 3 with the Blue Jays, 3 with the Reds, 4 more with the Brewers, 3 in Atlanta, and 3 in Miami. All games that should be winnable. And then the Cubs come to town again. Need to be right with the Cubs in the standings there in a few weeks. Preferably ahead. Game 20...

Re: Game #19: Cardinals @ Brewers: 04/23/2017: 1:10 PM

Pitching has improved & has carried the club over the past week. Defense has played well also....the two main components that keep you in every game. Hitting/offense should improve. Wong, Gyorko, Molina and even Grichuk hit well/decently in the Brewer series. Others need to step it up. Carpente...

Re: Game #19: Cardinals @ Brewers: 04/23/2017: 1:10 PM

Now that Fangraphs' split leaderboards have updated for yesterday's game, here's something fun.

Over the last 7 days, the Cardinals have gone 6-1 and hit .221 (24th in MLB) with men on base and .189 (28th in MLB) with RISP.

Re: Game #19: Cardinals @ Brewers: 04/23/2017: 1:10 PM

Didn't get to watch much of this series but from looking at box scores and PBP, looks like they are playing much better. They're scoring runs, but not really producing runs. Still need to figure out how to get on base and then be driven in. 5-for-13 with RISP today. 0-for-14 with RISP yesterday. 3-...

Re: Luis Robert cleared to sign with teams

This I actually see as a bad thing for them. Not only will it cost them the cost + the penalty, but it will cost them 2 years of international pool money that they would have if they don't sign him. Teams like the Padres and the Cards already lost that extra pool money, so it is really just more mo...

The favorites to sign Robert. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/225593268/favorites-to-sign-cuban-outfielder-luis-robert/?topicid=151437456 I think it's funny that in the article they credit the White Sox for have an aggresive reputation in the international market for signing Abreu in 2013 and receivin...
