Re: RBT Question Of The Day

I dunno. He did what he did last year hitting in front of Nobody for quite awhile. Put him in front of Ozuna, with Pham's ability to steal, and he oughta see some pretty good pitches (provided he can see at all). I'll let Tommy answer that one. "I don't really understand that (that he'll see b...

Re: 2018 MLB News & Tidbits Thread

Cole has been barely above average the past two seasons and outside of one season (2015) has pretty much been an average pitcher.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a nice pickup by Houston, but I think Cole's creds as an ace are highly overrated.

Re: RBT Question Of The Day

Will Tommy Pham accomplish his goal of being the 1st 30-30 Cardinal? He was 27 HR, 31 SB if you add in his time at Memphis. Based on his MLB stats, he would have needed roughly 700 PA to accomplish it. He'd have had to start about 153 games in the 2 spot to get there. So it's not impossible, but pr...

Re: Political Dugout

Before even considering raising taxes they need to cut the absolute waste spending. And then start cutting foreign aid. There is so much that can and should be cut before affecting a single American but they won't do it. Rand Paul went through a list of wasted money spent sometime around New Years ...

Re: 2017 Offseason News Thread

I've consistently thought they were still in the market for more upgrades even while saying they weren't. I'm beginning to doubt this now with Reed signing for that small of a contract. And if they don't do anything else I will be pretty upset. Mo said yesterday that they're proceeding with Gregers...

Re: Political Dugout

Democrats already are the party of high taxes. Now, most of them dance around it, especially Bernie, saying that they're going to raise the taxes on the 1% to pay for the services for the other 99%. Neverminding that that 1% has the means to hire accountants to find every possible loop hole and tax ...

Re: 2017 Offseason News Thread

Imagine if some young guy puts up Pujols in his prime numbers, the amount he'd get now if teams are paying somebody 11 million for ONE GOOD YEAR You'd get a contract like Mike Trout's $144M/6 contract. He got $1M as a second year player. Then started the big deal making $6M as a third year player. ...

Re: 2017 Offseason News Thread

The Cardinals have agreed to terms on one year deals with all three remaining arbitration eligible players. Salaries still to be reported. $9M for Ozuna (projected at $10.9M) $5.3M for Wacha (projected at $5.9M) $1.2M for Lyons (projected at $1.3M) Ozuna's is a huge deal. Khris Davis settled at $10...

Re: 2017 Be the GM Thread

Wainwright has said that when this current contract is up that his plan is to take it year-to-year with one year deals. I would not be surprised, good or bad year, if this was the end for him.

Re: RBT Question Of The Day

I think when you look at just what Verlander did you have to identify that he was a key part of that run. I think there's also the thing that acquiring a player like that ups the morale on the team which can help pull the team in the right direction. I also think teams see where the holes are and wh...

Re: 2017 Offseason News Thread

Something I saw today that I hadn't noticed before... Sandy Alcantara slotted in as the Marlins' #1 prospect according to MLB.com after the Ozuna trade. And according to MLB Pipeline, Sierra is now the Marlins' No. 5 prospect and Gallen is No. 15. Ozuna needs to be retained & needs to be Hollid...

Re: 2017 Offseason News Thread

Here's something...

The Cardinals have settled on a 1 year, $2.6 million deal with OF Randal Grichuk to avoid arbitration.

Until earlier today I'd forgotten that arbitration exchanges were tomorrow. Just part of how weird this offseason has been.
