Re: 2018 MLB News & Tidbits Thread

Cole has been barely above average the past two seasons and outside of one season (2015) has pretty much been an average pitcher. Don't get me wrong, it's still a nice pickup by Houston, but I think Cole's creds as an ace are highly overrated. It's just to slag our own staff. Over the years cf4l's ...

Re: Political Dugout

Before even considering raising taxes they need to cut the absolute waste spending. And then start cutting foreign aid. There is so much that can and should be cut before affecting a single American but they won't do it. Rand Paul went through a list of wasted money spent sometime around New Years ...

Re: 2017 Offseason News Thread

I've consistently thought they were still in the market for more upgrades even while saying they weren't. I'm beginning to doubt this now with Reed signing for that small of a contract. And if they don't do anything else I will be pretty upset.

Re: 2017 Offseason News Thread

Unfortunately Ozuna only has 2 years of control remaining including this year. So 1 more year after this. Hopefully he does do well in 2018 and we have to pay him 14M+ in 2019! I thought he was Arb2 this year & had 2 more years thereafter. He is arb2 but was not a super 2 so he only gets 3 arb ...

Re: Political Dugout

I dunno if you all saw it, but Bernie went on one of the news shows talking about how bad the tax changes were. Did his usual millionaires and billionaires shtick. But when asked if the tax cuts for the middle class were good he said yes, but they are bad because they aren't permanent. The only reas...

Re: Political Dugout

The thing is, I have doubts that he even used the term s**thole. He denied it this morning. And dumb@$$ Durbin from my crooked state is the one reporting it, who has been caught lying about this exact type of thing not long ago. Agree he would have to be an idiot to use this quote in front of his en...

Re: 2017 Offseason News Thread

So, if Ozuna rakes like last year, he's gonna be maybe a $14M+ Arb guy next year & $19M+ Arb guy in 2019 right? Not cheap. The days of riding great young performers for a long time on the cheap are gone. One can see why they roll the dice early on long-term deals with the Craigs, Carps, Piscott...

Re: Political Dugout

About time for the lesser-of-2-evils President Pence to take over the Oval Office. The MAGA Train has completely jumped the rails. Fox News and Fox Business have not repeated the word "shi*hole" once, according to transcript searches. It was quite a contrast to CNN, where hosts and guests...

Re: 2017 Be the GM Thread

Do we really think Waino can be an effective starter this year? I'm extremely doubtful. Of the 61 Major League starters with at least 300 innings pitched over the last 2 years Waino's 4.81 ERA ranks 59th. Seriously, 59th out of 61. Yikes. I think he can, but I'm pretty doubtful as well. It is possi...

Re: 2017 Offseason News Thread

Agreed. By now in normal offseasons the team is almost always done or mostly done. As are most teams. But there are still so many big names available plus lots of trade rumors that there is still a lot of action to go this off-season. It is possible that they are done (unlikely IMO). It is possible ...

Re: Official 2017 Cardinals Rumors Thread

Agree. Moustakas isn't an upgrade just like Hosmer isn't. Hosmer is better than Moose. Arrieta at least would make a little sense.

He is 23 Debbie Downer. Hey, I know the type of usual "signings" this franchise has made in the recent past. Scrubs nobody else wanted From the long posts that R27 and I made, you thought this was a 31 year old low hanging fruit scrub that no one else wanted? Wow man. Just clicking on a l...
