Re: 2017 Offseason News Thread

Cardinals will have four prospects on Baseball America's 2018 preseason top 100. 17. RHP Alex Reyes (#4 in 2017) 53. RHP Jack Flaherty 55. C Carson Kelly (#65 in 2017) 86. OF Tyler O'Neill (#38 in 2017) SS Delvin Perez (#86 in 2017) fell off the list after being a consensus top-100 prospect last yea...

Re: 2017 Offseason News Thread

Typical King Mo move. Banking on a guy (who is under the Cardinals control for 4 years) being able to build on the success he had last season. Not the closer we were promised, but could be an important piece of the pen. Barring an unforeseen ST injury pen seems to shake out like: Brebbia, Bowman, T...

Re: 2017 Offseason News Thread

Glad to see Grichuk find a home. Every quote I read from him this winter sounded like he really wanted to say that he wanted to be traded. I have a lot of questions about Leone. Who is the real Leone? Where does he slot in? But the thing I can't get over is he's 26 entering his fifth year in the Maj...

Re: 2018 MLB News & Tidbits Thread

The grass is always greener on the other side. The two guys I always go back to are Jon Jay and Matt Adams. To hear most fans tell it, these guys were junk, but after they were traded away we're looking for exactly what they were. Traded Jay and a year later brought in a center fielder who could lea...

Re: RBT Question Of The Day

I don’t think he will. I think he’ll have a bit of a sophomore slump. 40-45 homers.

Re: Immigration

I don't really understand this. In this situation, if he's married to an American citizen and has kids, he should be allowed to stay. Process-wise, if he were to leave, in six months he should be able to apply for a visa to return so it is not a permanent deportation. But there is a hardship waiver ...

Re: RBT Question Of The Day

They've made some puzzling moves. Starting with their decision to try to sneak Nicasio through waivers a second time after failing the first. Like they didn't expect he'd get grabbed again. Just because they didn't want to pay $600k for him to pitch for them through September. And they could have tr...

Re: 2017 Offseason News Thread

I don't have a lot of optimism they'll retain Ozuna long-term. Well, it'd require them being the best offer on the table, which clearly they don't have interest in ever being. Should we also point out that this glut of outfielders that they specifically talked about clearing still exists? We just t...

Re: RBT Question Of The Day

I dunno. He did what he did last year hitting in front of Nobody for quite awhile. Put him in front of Ozuna, with Pham's ability to steal, and he oughta see some pretty good pitches (provided he can see at all). I'll let Tommy answer that one. "I don't really understand that (that he'll see b...

Re: 2018 MLB News & Tidbits Thread

Cole has been barely above average the past two seasons and outside of one season (2015) has pretty much been an average pitcher.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a nice pickup by Houston, but I think Cole's creds as an ace are highly overrated.

Re: RBT Question Of The Day

Will Tommy Pham accomplish his goal of being the 1st 30-30 Cardinal? He was 27 HR, 31 SB if you add in his time at Memphis. Based on his MLB stats, he would have needed roughly 700 PA to accomplish it. He'd have had to start about 153 games in the 2 spot to get there. So it's not impossible, but pr...

Re: Political Dugout

Before even considering raising taxes they need to cut the absolute waste spending. And then start cutting foreign aid. There is so much that can and should be cut before affecting a single American but they won't do it. Rand Paul went through a list of wasted money spent sometime around New Years ...

Re: 2017 Offseason News Thread

I've consistently thought they were still in the market for more upgrades even while saying they weren't. I'm beginning to doubt this now with Reed signing for that small of a contract. And if they don't do anything else I will be pretty upset. Mo said yesterday that they're proceeding with Gregers...

Re: Political Dugout

Democrats already are the party of high taxes. Now, most of them dance around it, especially Bernie, saying that they're going to raise the taxes on the 1% to pay for the services for the other 99%. Neverminding that that 1% has the means to hire accountants to find every possible loop hole and tax ...

Re: 2017 Offseason News Thread

Imagine if some young guy puts up Pujols in his prime numbers, the amount he'd get now if teams are paying somebody 11 million for ONE GOOD YEAR You'd get a contract like Mike Trout's $144M/6 contract. He got $1M as a second year player. Then started the big deal making $6M as a third year player. ...
