There's been a lot of rage about him "giving up" and just going to form a super team to win a championship.

I'm like, we criticize players all the time for taking the money instead of going where they can win. A player goes where he can win and gets railed for it.

Like Pujols ............... much of it references his prior public statements.

Yeah except Pujols left for more money after saying he wouldn't. Durant left about $16 million on the table versus what his deal would have paid him in OKC. This move is about winning a title and going where he thinks he can. *shrugs* People are going to think whatever they're going to think.

FYI re - Thread Title:

He hasn't "signed" yet, can't do so for few more days. He's just announced that he's going to.

Durant and the Thunder had "3" chances to defeat GS in the playoffs. Should have been in the finals. Failed each time. Much of that is on Durant as he didn't perform down the stretch. OKC had a very good team. So instead of wanting to return and compete for the elusive championship in OKC he bolts for the team that defeated him. I agree with Stephen A. Smith. Just weak.

Hopefully OKC can benefit as the Cardinals did when Pujols left by spending the money Durant would have received by signing quality athletes. Definitely a rebuilding time in OKC as Westbrook will be leaving next season as well. Time to trade Westbrook? We'll see what direction the Thunder takes with him.

Incidentally, I'm not a huge NBA fan. The teams I follow are actually San Antonio and the Clippers (Blake Griffin). Perhaps OKC should try to bring Griffin back to Oklahoma.
