I don't want to go all negative here....will always hold a glimmer of hope for this season, but:

Major Disappointment : Trevor Rosenthal
2nd Disappointment : Lack of this team to come together
Biggest Disappointment: The apparent lack of spirit, fight, or will to win.

There are still 79 games or so to go. Still have hope they will get hot and make the playoffs.... 8-)

Biggest pleasant surprise...Aledmys Diaz...was hoping he would get the chance when Peralta went down, but I'd have argued all day long with anyone who said he'd have 13 home runs and hitting .315 at the break. I'm impressed!!

And management tried SO hard to avoid playing him. It's hard to believe that we were one injury away from Ruben Tejada being the guy at SS instead of the 2nd best player on the team.

He wasn't very good in Springfield, wasn't deserving of promotion. Was hurt, struggled, bored, disenchanted, whatever. He wasn't very good.

It was only after the DFA'd him last Summer that he picked things up. Then a late-season promotion to Memphis where over his last 14 games he absolutely tore it up - for the 1st time.

Diaz had a lot to prove at the beginning of the year, despite what people want to believe. I'm glad he got a shot, but I can't really fault the organization for asking him to show it wasn't a fluke in the minors.

Tejada had a pretty good spring, especially after showing up in our camp. I think if he hadn't gotten hurt, he certainly wouldn't have been a negative for the team. He's capable of playing plus defense and being an average offensive hitter. The vibe I get from him, from more than just his time in STL, is that he needs to be motivated. He's not a great self-motivator. He showed up with the Cardinals with a chance to be "the guy" at shortstop and had good results. But he gets hurt, goes down and once Diaz was lighting it up in St. Louis, he knew the writing was on the wall for him and he wasn't going to get the opportunity he thought he was here.

With Matt Duffy out, he's been playing a lot of third base the last couple weeks for San Francisco and is slowly getting going. His last week was pretty decent (for a shortstop, not a third baseman though).

Biggest surprise: All the home runs we hit. Was expecting an increase but Moss and Gyorko were really on a roll for a while. Too bad it didn't last.
