Multiple teams have shown interest in Cain, including the St. Louis Cardinals. The teams have discussed a deal in which the Royals would ship Cain and Davis to other end of Missouri for second baseman Kolten Wong and a package of prospects.

This is a pretty interesting offer. This would be a pretty ballsy move.

Is Gyrko the starter at 2B in that situation? I'd be a little worried that the club is fixing a defensive hole in CF, but creating one at 2B.

I'd roll with Gyorko at third, move Carpenter to second again and use Adams/Peralta in a platoon at first base. Assuming only that move, of course.

I'd consider that too, but I don't think the club would. I think Carp is your guy at 1B for the foreseeable future.

You do what you gotta do. Gyorko's better defensively at third base anyway, so you want him there if you're insisting on playing him everyday.

Lots of people calling Davis broken on Twitter. Not sure what I'm missing. He came back from his injury in September and was still dominant.

Fowler doesn't seem to be in love with the Cardinals and there seems to be the vibe that he would like to play in a larger market. There have also been some rumblings that he does not want to play for Mike Matheny. Potentially influenced by Heyward's thoughts on the matter?

And Derrick Goold said in his chat yesterday that he feels like the Cards are more interested in Adam Eaton or Lorenzo Cain than Fowler.

Clubs asking about Wong. Cardinals asking (possibly) about Desmond. Have made an offer to Fowler?

Lots of speculation. Fun time of year.... 8-)

Source please?

A handful of media in DC have tweeted about how Fowler isn't crazy about the Cardinals.
https://twitter.com/Frank_Cusumano/stat ... 2457036800

Most fans have made the link to Matheny specifically and deciding that it's a huge problem. Which I'm not 100% sure of considering he would come from the Heyward tree. And it's not really a secret that Heyward and Matheny didn't get along. So either Fowler asked Heyward about the Cardinals when he realized they'd be pursuing them or it had already come up.

If Fowler had not played last year with Heyward, I'd put more faith in the reading of it that "nobody wants to play for Matheny."

Heyward was so miserable playing for Matheny he only hit .293/.359/.439.

He was so happy playing for Genius Joe that he blossomed to hit .230/.306/..325.

Yeah, MM pretty much sucks to play for ................... ;)

Here's where I believe we are on the outfielders.

Fowler - Cardinals have at least outlined an offer to him that is similar to the offer given to him by the Blue Jays. Cardinals would have a big tax advantage on equal deals.

Desmond - Reportedly narrowed down to one team and is hoping to finalize a deal today.

Gomez - Signed a $11.5M/1 deal with Texas. Off the board.

Eaton & Blackmon - Both teams would be willing to trade, both are asking for a lot.

Cain - Would be a one year rental addition, but would be cheaper. Still likely to cost a guy like Bader or Wong, who the Cardinals would be reluctant to trade.
