Saw this yesterday and cracked up. 2 things.

1) Subtract Holliday, Moss, Garcia, Hazelbaker, Maness and add Fowler, Cecil, and Lynn along with a full season of Reyes and somehow win 10 less games???

2) Higher AVG, OBP, and SL than Milwaukee but somehow score less runs than them.

Pretty laughable.

Much like last year, the Cardinals are a team that's difficult to project. I can't see the stats for each player that PECOTA is projecting, but last year it was riddled with playing time issues. And that's always the biggest problem with PECOTA, is playing time projections.

So the impacts of guys like Lynn, Reyes, Diaz, Peralta and Wong are all likely heavily under-projected. Wainwright probably is too.

Last year the Cardinals were projected to go 82-80, and beat that by 4 games. From what I read, that was based on Wainwright only pitching 92 innings and Grichuk & Piscotty around 300 PA a piece.

I think these projections would be a lot more accurate if they didn't try to project PA and IP and tried a role based playing time projection rather than what they do. I just look at Wainwright. The guy averaged 227 innings per season over his last five healthy seasons heading into 2016. He injures his achilles tendon and misses most of a season and that's going to make him a 92 inning pitcher? No.

I don't lend much credence to these guys. Never have & never will. Heck I know weathermen who are more accurate than these types. Guess they need to have a job, but none of them are remotely related to Nostradamus.... 8-)

Apparently they have CMart with an ERA well over 4.00 & once again have Matty Baseball at around league-average WAR.

Mozeliak says the competition for the No. 5 spot is among Reyes, Wacha and Luke Weaver. Rosenthal is also being put on a starter’s program and could get starts during Grapefruit League play.

We may suck, but we'll look stylish doing so. New 3-D rubber logo on helmets.
