Kolten Wong Thread - Love Him or Hate Him

Postby chevyman58 » Wed Sep 27, 2017 10:52 am

Just a few weeks ago many declared Wong as having finally turned the corner and proving his All-Star-caliber excellence. Well ....................

In September crunch time, fighting for a playoff spot, he's hit .179 with a .208 Slg% & an OPS well below the Kozma-Line.

Run the kid outa here, it's over.

16:$1.25M, 17:$2.5M, 18:$4M, 19:$6.5M, 20:$10.25M, 21:$12.5M club option ($1M buyout)

He hurt his back in the first series of the month, missed a week and has been in and out of the lineup since because of it.

Hitting .171/.320/.220 since returning to the lineup after going back to St. Louis for treatment. Was hitting .275/.341/.475 in the 10 games prior to the series where he hurt his back. So I'll chalk this up to injury.

Much like Carpenter with his shoulder injury and Piscotty with his struggles, he's still getting on base.

But with the injuries, the player is always going to tell you he's good to go. It's the job of the guy who fills out the lineup card to know better.
