Apparently Piscotty to the A's isn't a completely done deal. It sounds like it was Piscotty for utilityman Yairo Munoz and 2B Max Schrock. Then they hit a snag early morning.

If that's true that is another solid return IMO. Neither are anything amazing, but both could be nice MLB parts. And both can hit.

Apparently there are a few who bemoan the potential loss of Munoz because he is viewed as an excellent defender who can play every position on the field. They both struck me as great potential utility, bench players.

Piscotty deal finalized per Derrick Goold. It will be Munoz and Schrock coming back.

Good for Piscotty to be closer to home.

Correct pronunciation for Yairo Munoz is apparently JI-ro MOON-yohz.

Munoz slots in #12 and Schrock at #14 on the MLB.com Cardinals top-30 prospects. Will move up to #10 and #12 once Alcantara and Sierra are removed when the Ozuna trade is made official.

I'm curious how that'll shuffle in the pre-2018 update because the A's had a better system on the midseason rankings than the Cardinals did.

Hasn't been announced by the team yet, but apparently the Cards purchased the contract of Ramon Urias from the Mexican League. It is hard to find articles about it but one in Spanish is linked in this thread and also translated.

His numbers look pretty crazy good for a league that is supposed to be comparable to AA. Hard to find a scouting report on him but he looks like a solid infield prospect and will be in Memphis next year.

I've heard Springfield for Urias to open up the year. With Wisdom and Voit in Memphis, there wouldn't be much playing time for him.

I'm not sure just how much I buy the Mexican Leagues being comparable to AA either. He and Randy Arozarena played in the same winter league and Arozarena just raked and did much better than he had at Peoria or Springfield this year and Urias meanwhile comparatively did worse in the winter league than he had with his full season Mexican League team. So just using that as a comp point, AA may be a stretch.

I see that now also. You are probably right about that. I'd say if we are comparing him to Arozarena in any way, this is a great signing though IMO. Here are their numbers from that league next to each other:

Arozarena:
235 PA, .298/.355/.577/.931, 13 HR, 32 RBI, 9 BB (4%), 48 K (20%)
League ranks:
AVG - 23rd
OBP - 37th
SLG - 2nd
OPS - 6th

Urias:
227 PA, .326/.439/.435/.874, 1 HR, 13 RBI, 23 BB (10%), 27 K (12%)
AVG - 10th
OBP - 4th
SLG - 22nd
OPS - 12th

League average: .263/.334/.370/.704

Looks like a leadoff type hitter. In that thread I posted, they mention that the Mexican league has some very high altitude stadiums that can inflate power numbers, so he may not have all that much pop.

Side note, Arozarena had 13 HR which led that league. 2nd place had 9.

But looking at just his Mexican winter league numbers from the past 3 years, Urias still looks like a nice prospect.

2015: 193 PA, .327/.410/.412/.822, 0 HR, 22 RBI, 21 BB (11%), 40 K (21%)
2016: 145 PA, .283/.352/.425/.777, 3 HR, 18 RBI, 12 BB (8%), 19 K (13%) (combined between 2 teams)
2017: 227 PA, .326/.439/.435/.874, 1 HR, 13 RBI, 23 BB (10%), 27 K (12%)
