DeJong was the highest finishing Cardinals rookie in ROY voting since Pujols in 2001.

Manager of the Year

In the National League, it was Torey Lovullo, the first-year skipper who turned the Arizona Diamondbacks from a 93-loss team cellar dweller to a 93-win postseason team in just one season. In the American League, it was Paul Molitor, who guided the Minnesota Twins to a postseason spot after losing 103 games in 2016.

Max Scherzer won the NL Cy Young award again Wednesday, and the Kluber took home the AL version again.

It’s Kluber's second win in four seasons. It's Scherzer's third win and second in a row.

Not surprised by Luhnow. But Jim Crane deserves as much credit or more. The Astros were a clean slate when Luhnow arrived with no long-term contracts to escape or weigh the team down. Having the owner and GM on the same page is really the key. When the GM feels pressure that his job might be in danger is when stupid decisions are made.
