Poor Jason Motte had to interrupt his vacation in the Virgin Islands to go sign his contract.

Cubs are trying to sync a free agent signing and trade. Based on the news of the day, I figure the signing is probably Ben Zobrist and the trade is probably Shelby Miller for one of the Cubs' middle infielders.

Zobrist is a Cub. $56 million over 4 years. Not a bad deal at all. Reunited with Joe Maddon.

Trade could also be Castro to the Yankees.

Shelby Miller looks like he's headed to the Diamondbacks. Going from the worst NL offense to the best one that doesn't play in Coors Field.

Starlin Castro to the Yankees for SS Brendan Ryan and RHP Adam Warren.

The Braves absolutely cleaned house in that trade. Top 100 pitching prospect and the #1 overall pick in the draft. Crazy.

The Phillies acquired right-hander Charlie Morton from the Pirates for minor league right-hander David Whitehead. Morton is owed $8 million in 2016, with a $9.5 million club option for 2017 or a $1 million buyout.

Have the Pirates done ANYTHING other than cutting Alvarez & trading Morton?

ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick reports the Mariners have signed Steve Cishek to a two-year contract. According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports, the deal is worth $10 million and carries incentives which could push it to $17 million.

Good for Steve. Glad the Cards didn't pay that.

They signed a reliever, but that's it. Their payroll is projected over $100 million right now. I wonder where their comfort level is.

The Pirates may be waiting to see how their season goes without Kang before they try to make any additions.

Yankees get Chapman from the Reds. If they keep Miller that might be the best or one of the best bullpens ever....

Outfielder Alex Gordon agreed to re-sign with the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday in what’s almost certain to be a franchise-record contract for KC.
As talks intensified in recent days, the sides were discussing a four-year deal in the low $70 million range, sources said. Never have the Royals guaranteed more than $55 million to a player.

He clearly took a bit less to come back. At that price he would've looked great in red.
