According to Elias Sports, Jaime García is the 1st pitcher to make 3 straight appearances as a starter for 3 different teams since Gus Weyhing in 1895.

After he singled in the first, doubled in the third, and tripled in the fourth, Jon Jay flied out to center in the sixth, was intentionally walked in the seventh, and flied out in the eighth. If he had homered, it would've been the 15th natural cycle and second ever by a Cubs player. Cubs beat Reds 15-5.

Also in that game, only a future ex-Cardinal in my dreams, Joey Votto doubled while the Cubs played four outfielders....

Albert Pujols now stands alone as Major League Baseball's all-time home run leader among foreign-born players. On Tuesday night Pujols hit the 610th home run of his career, passing fellow Dominican Sammy Sosa and taking sole possession of eighth place on the all-time list.

Siegrist single-handedly bucking the trend of ex-Cardinals playing better in their new destinations.

After 20 years Carlos Beltran retires, having just won his 1st World Series.

Is Matt Holliday next?

You have to think Holliday is next, right? Even though he says he intends to play next year.

Carlos Beltran will have an opportunity to wear the pinstripes again as the former New York Yankees outfielder will interview for the team's manager position on Wednesday, according to multiple reports.

Beltran told multiple outlets earlier this month that he would be interested in interviewing for the job. It will be the 40-year-old's first coaching or managerial interview of any kind.

Yankees are bringing out all their former players to interview for this manager job. You'd think they were a college athletics program.

Apparently Beltran is the 6th interview. Rob Thomson, Eric Wedge, Hensley Meulens, Aaron Boone and Chris Woodward previously interviewed and Jerry Hairston Jr. is also expected to be interviewed.

Baseball players don’t always go into broadcasting or managing after their MLB career is finished. Former St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Anthony Reyes took a different path, deciding to pick up a hose and become a firefighter in Los Angeles County. And as an L.A. County firefighter, he’s now reportedly on the front lines of the California wildfires, working with many others to try and contain them.

The Texas Rangers are looking to upgrade their rotation and have had “sustained interest” in Lance Lynn and fellow free agent starter Alex Cobb, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network.

Morosi previously reported that the Baltimore Orioles were also interested in Lynn.

The Cubs continued to bolster their bullpen, agreeing to a two-year contract with veteran right-hander Steve Cishek on Thursday, a source told MLB.com. The deal is pending a physical.

The Cubs have not confirmed the deal.
