Really hoped Diaz would have a heck of a moment there, would have been incredible to watch.

Would have put him on the NL Rookie of the Year map if he had.

Don't ya think he, Villar & Seager are all neck-'n-neck for ROY?

Pretty amazing all SS's, all in NL. Top 3 SS's by most measures, all Rooks.

I have this fear Diaz' early-season E's may cost him the award.

Diaz is a failure in one area....he assumes to quick.....go back and look at his 3-2 counts through this year, he assumes a umpire is just going to give him ball 4 and starts walking towards first base before the umpire tells him to, like he's entitled to the bag. and he's been rung up many times over because he's showing up the umpire, it cost us many times this year and it cost the NL last night.

Because no other players take a step or two toward 1B when they take a pitch that they assume is ball 4? I really doubt that has anything at all to do with a strike call man...

And last night, he didn't even do that, so not sure what you are talking about.

Yea, I didn't see Diaz doing that either. He leaned over the plate a bit but the pitch was on the outside corner. He also got shafted on the second pitch that was a called strike, it was clearly outside.

The only thing I would say he should have done was gone after that last pitch. One because it was close (and a strike I believe) but it was obvious after the earlier call it was going to be a called strike in my eyes. Of course, I'm sure it's much easier for me to say that sitting on my couch than being in his spot.

Oh yeah I thought it was a strike seeing the replay and not seeing the full AB. Too close to take. Heck of a good pitch and should have swung at it. But he didn't show up the ump, to even think that on that pitch is kind of crazy.

Actually, the things I've been most impressed with about Diaz is his pitch recognition skills, plate awareness & quality of ABs. Watching game-after-game I see other, veteran players have poor or average ABs in those regards then watch Diaz come up & do much better. IMO his quality of ABs are those of an experienced, quality hitter.

Nope. Pretty sure it'll be Seager if it's a hitter. Heck, I'd bet on Story to win it before Diaz.

I had no idea who Villar was when you mentioned him. Couldn't have told you where he played.
