Cardinals-Padres Preview

By ALAN FERGUSON (STATS Writer)
AP - Sports

Wil Myers' hot hitting and St. Louis' continued cold spell at the plate was the right combination for the
San Diego Padres to win their first matchup with the Cardinals this season. That slumping club will
get to face a starter who is making his major league debut, Cesar Vargas, when its series at Petco Park
continues Saturday. Image

Vargas set to make MLB debut vs. Wacha, Cards

By Jay Paris / Special to MLB.com | April 22nd, 2016

The TBA listing for the Padres' pitcher on Saturday now has a name: Cesar Vargas. With lefty Robbie Erlin
going on the disabled list with a sore elbow, the Padres needed someone to face the Cardinals in this
three-game series' second outing. The right-handed Vargas gets the nod after being summoned from
Double-A El Paso. Image

Cards trail 1-0 in the bottom of the 3rd. Bats are booming again tonight as we have 3 singles.

Cubs trail the Reds 9-4 in the 7th. Lackey giving up 6 earned runs.... 8-)

I really like Oh. Very composed on the mound, nothing seems to bother him.

Diaz goes 5-for-5. First Cardinals rookie to do that since Wally Moon on April 23, 2016. Exactly 62 years ago.

Peralta who? Tejeda who?

And finally Cubs get a lesson in humility, Lackey & all 3 relievers get pounded - 13-5 loss to Reds.

You mean 1954 as the year Moon went 5 for 5 I presume.... 8-)
