How the hell is Maness still being used in anything other than blowouts? He has been destroyed in about 80% of his outings this year.

No one on the staff had a good night. Garcia is frustrating. Maness' sinker isn't sinking as yet. Siegrist needs a day off. Trying to find out what Bowman can do and Lyons is awful. Our offense put up 7 runs which should be enough to win.

Pitching has to be better. Chalk it up to a bad night.... 8-)

OFF OF ZACH GRIENKE FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD!

For almost as much time as it took for the Cardinals’ bullpen to unravel Monday night in Arizona, reliever Seth Maness and teammate Adam Wainwright viewed and reviewed video in an attempt to put Maness’ delivery back together.

“We got him figured out,” Wainwright announced after about 30 minutes.

And as bad as he's been, not all on Maness. And throw yet another MLB-leading E in there, by Wong yet again.

Bottom of 6th, Jaime Garcia still pitching

Welington Castillo doubled to left
David Peralta tripled to deep center, Welington Castillo scored

Matt Bowman pitching

Chris Owings singled to center, David Peraltascored
Zack Greinke singled to left center, Chris Owingsto second
Nick Ahmed struck out swinging

Kevin Siegrist pitching
Kolten Wong at second

Jean Segura homered (400 ft.) to deep left center, Chris Owings and Zack Greinke scored
Brandon Drury singled to left center
Paul Goldschmidt walked, Brandon Drury to second

Seth Maness pitching

Yasmany Tomás ground rule double to deep right center, Brandon Drury scored, Paul Goldschmidtto third
Welington Castillo singled to right center, Paul Goldschmidt and Yasmany Tomás scored
David Peralta reached on Kolten Wong's fielding error, Welington Castillo to third, David Peralta to first
Chris Owings singled to left center, Welington Castillo scored, David Peralta to second
Zack Greinke hit into fielder's choice, pitcher to second, David Peralta to third, Chris Owings out
Nick Ahmed lined out to right

9 runs, 9 hits, 1 error

Batting practice. A slow pitch softball game? How do you let your opponent score "9" runs in ONE inning is beyond me. I know....it's Bush's fault....no, it's Matheny's fault....

The game last night is definitely not on Maness. But he has been so unbelievably bad, I don't see how Matheny can have any faith in him in anything other than a blowout game. Because every time he comes in, he just gets raked more. If you can bring someone in to put out the fire instead of throwing gas on it like Maness has done all year, you still have a shot in the game. After Maness exploded though, it was all but over. And it may not have mattered anyway because they were lighting everyone up, but notice that everyone had a relatively quick hook BESIDES the worst pitcher in the pen...

Can Maness be optioned still?

Also, if things keep up like this on defense you have to consider benching Wong.

I don't read anything into that, common deal how that played out. When 1st & 2nd guy in get rocked, particularly Away in a non-Sept reg season game, 3rd guy in with still only 1 out usually stays out there whether successful or not - takes one for the team. Was only the 6th, lotta games & road games for a stretch, can't empty the entire pen there IMO.

I think somebody woulda stayed out there for the final few runs regardless. He was 4th pitcher in the inning and Wong hurt him too.
