Game 36: Cardinals @ Dodgers, 5/13/2016, 9:10 pm CT

Postby chevyman58 » Fri May 13, 2016 7:04 pm

Another day in LA, another late game, now we head into Chavez Ravine.

Michael Wacha, 2-3, 3.12 vs Ross Stripling, RH, 0-2, 3.82

Stripling, who made his MLB debut by carrying a no-hitter through 7 1/3 innings before being pulled with it still going, began May by giving up a run and a hit in six innings of Sunday's 4-2 win in Toronto. It was a fourth no-decision in six starts, though it came after consecutive losses in which the right-hander gave up eight runs in 10 innings.

Wacha has lost his last three starts despite a 3.43 ERA, though the worst of them was a 10-5 home loss to Pittsburgh on Sunday. The right-hander gave up four runs and six hits in six innings.

Yasiel Puig is 3 for 24 in his last seven games. He's hitting .230 overall & hearing some boos from the hometown crowds.

Kershaw threw a gem of a shutout yesterday, the Cardinals don't have to see him this series.

I wonder how many times FOX Sports Midwest will mention that Wacha and Stripling were roommates.

Oh boy. Can't wait. Kind of like when Dan mentions "The Champions Club" umpteen times.... 8-)

We pretty much stunk it up. Wacha wasn't great but we E'd him into extra work. Wacha only lasts 4 innings. LOSERS 8-4.

The Cardinals entered the day with the Majors' worst fielding percentage and endured another tumultuous night in the field that led to five unearned runs. Diaz committed three of them, bringing his season total to nine in 31 games at shortstop. Those included fumbled grounders to open the second and fourth, innings in which the Dodgers scored a combined four unearned runs. It marked the team's first four-error game since May 2011.

Proud to add that Lyons kept his streak alive of giving up at least one HR per appearance.... 8-)

That game was played like it was Friday the 13th. Pretty rough effort all around, not much else you can say. Hopefully they can bounce back tonight.

Wong had a good game at the plate ............ of course then threw away a leadoff triple by breaking for the plate on a comebacker to the pitcher & getting out. On 3b mind you. With no outs mind you. Kid has frequent brain cramps.

I think Wong tries to be aggressive on the bases and he's just not a very good base runner. Doesn't have very good natural instincts.

Wong is like the perfect picture of the guy who tries to get aggressive when he knows he needs to make something happen, but just ends up making things worse.
