Game 145: Cubs @ Cardinals, 9/14/16, 12:45 pm CT

Postby chevyman58 » Wed Sep 14, 2016 10:17 am

ONLY 18 Games Left In Regular Season! EVERY game a playoff game for us now.

Jon Lester, LH, 16-4, 2.51 vs CMart, 14-7, 3.05

Lester one of the 4 leading NL Cy Young candidates, 3 of them on the Cubs. He's been dynamite lately. Lester has yet to lose a game in any of his 10 starts after the All-Star break. He beat the Cards on Aug 11th.

CMart has won four of his last five decisions, with five consecutive quality starts, in which he hasn't allowed more than two earned runs and has a 1.85 ERA. But this year he has a 5.00 ERA and 10 runs allowed over 18 innings in three starts against the Cubs.

CMart leads the NL with 32 double plays induced and with two more he'll tie the franchise record of 34, set by John Denny.

Rosenthal and Wacha are likely to come off the disabled list today.

Mets are going to be tough to stop. They have 17 games left, 13 are against the Twins (worst team in baseball), Braves (2nd worst team in baseball), and the Phillies (4th in the NL East). They play today in Washington and then get 10 straight at home against the aforementioned bad teams.

The Giants are the best shot. Six against the Dodgers, four against us, and five against the Padres who have pretty much had their number lately.

Cardinals head to San Francisco for four, Colorado for three, and Wrigley for three. Then come home for Cincinnati and Pittsburgh to finish off the season.

I think that the Mets are in. And the Cardinals and Giants are playing this weekend for the other Wild Card.

Lester absolutely dominant, we've only hit one ball hard thru 7. 4-0 Cubs.

CMart looked great, left a couple balls in the middle of the plate & got killed.

San Diego has scored 1 off Bumgarner in the 1st.

Yeah that was a fun game to be at solely because food and drinks were on my company. The game pretty much sucked.

I like to think that the Mets and Giants are squandering opportunities.
