Game 156: Reds @ Cardinals, 9/26/16, 7:15 pm CT

Postby chevyman58 » Mon Sep 26, 2016 3:35 pm

Tim Adleman, RH, 2-4, 4.06 vs Jaime Garcia, 10-12, 4.59

Garcia's had 2 good relief outings but an 8.23 ERA in his last 6 starts.

Adleman was scoreless into the 7th vs the Cubs last start before giving up 2 solo shots.

Mets are in Miami tonight, Giants are off. We're a 1/2 game back of Giants.

Inspired by Moss having 5 hits in September, here's how many ABs it's taken each Cardinal in tonight's lineup to get their last 5 hits:

Garcia - 15
Piscotty - 18
Molina - 8
Adams - 11
Peralta - 10
Moss - 49
Gyorko - 25
Grichuk - 18
Garcia - 31

Ol' middle-of-the-plate meatball Garcia is back, 1st inning blues. 4 hits, 2 HRs, 3 SBs & a CS.

2-0 Reds after 1.

Garcia out after 1 inning,

Wacha comes in to start the 2nd & gives up his own HR to 1st hitter.

3-0 Reds, nobody out in 2nd. And now another single.

Garcia/Wacha absolutely snakebitten ........................ have now given up 6 hits/3 HRs outa 1st 8 hitters. My God man ...........

Now 9-0 Reds in the 4th and still batting with Weaver pitching in place of Wacha. This is bad!!!! Make that 10-0 and still batting!

We've moved past pathetic and into shameful territory.

So MM did what I thought he should do - pull Weaver out of the rotation, then go with Garcia/Wacha combo in his place. Garcia/Wacha have us down 8-0 in the top of the 4th and now Weaver comes in & hits his 1st batter, gives up a hit to his 2nd batter & his 3rd batter & now it's 10-0 in less than 4 innings off of the trio of Garcia/Wacha/Weaver - given up FIFTEEN HITS while getting 11 outs.

So what we've learned tonight is that all 3 of these guys gotta be benched for the rest of the year.

Miami leading Mets 7-2 in the 6th & we're just choking away oppty after oppty ............................

We're only down "12." There's still time to mount a comeback....

It's beyond me how we can play this poorly.

Mets losing 7-2, Pirates losing 12-1, Cardinals losing 14-2. Nobody wants to win this Wild Card.

Except maybe the Marlins. And I'm sure they don't even want to be playing baseball right now.

Oh, and all we need is a home run to complete the team cycle.
