Nice series win.

Cards really need to work on base running skills. 4 guys picked off in that series.

Didn't get to watch much of this series but from looking at box scores and PBP, looks like they are playing much better.

They're scoring runs, but not really producing runs. Still need to figure out how to get on base and then be driven in.

5-for-13 with RISP today. 0-for-14 with RISP yesterday. 3-for-5 with RISP on Friday. Won all three games. Scored 16 runs.

Now that Fangraphs' split leaderboards have updated for yesterday's game, here's something fun.

Over the last 7 days, the Cardinals have gone 6-1 and hit .221 (24th in MLB) with men on base and .189 (28th in MLB) with RISP.

Pitching has improved & has carried the club over the past week. Defense has played well also....the two main components that keep you in every game. Hitting/offense should improve. Wong, Gyorko, Molina and even Grichuk hit well/decently in the Brewer series. Others need to step it up. Carpenter needs to stop whining on strike calls (annoying). Still, at some point should attempt to acquire a potent bat for the lineup IMO.

Like the positive mode club is in.... 8-)

Apparently they improved by +7 defensive runs saved this past week too. Most of that at catcher and second base.

Carpenter usually has a point when he complains though. Typically among the leaders in incorrect strike calls. But at this point he should understand and accept that or change his approach.

The Cardinals did hit a league leading .291 with the bases empty over the past 7 days. It kinda illustrates this team's complete inability for situational hitting. Batting average with runners on was 70 points lower than with the bases empty.
