Game #27: Brewers @ Cardinals: 5/4/2017: 6:15 PM

Postby chevyman58 » Wed May 03, 2017 10:22 am

......................................................................................................................................................

Chase Anderson, RH, 2-0, 2.10 vs Adam Wainwright, 2-3, 6.12

Anderson threw 6 innings against the Cardinals 11 days ago without allowing an earned run (1 unearned).

Anderson has a 1.97 ERA in six career starts against the Cardinals.

Cardinal fans still have lots of excited anticipation for Waino's starts, only now it's because he's the team's best hitter.

After 5 April starts last season Waino was 1-3 with an ERA of 7.16. So he's improved!

I find it a bit hard to believe that the Cubs have gotten off to such a slow start. With everyone so high on them going into the season and the slow start the Redbirds have, being only a game back is pretty incredible. Granted they could go a run at any given time but so could the Redbirds, given they quit with all the unforced errors.

Makes sense. It's been raining pretty hard since before I woke up this morning.

It never rains in St. Louis, so we don't need to build a dome.

I'm still glad they didn't do that. Baseball indoors doesn't feel like baseball. And Milwaukee's stadium is pretty ugly from the outside IMO. I'll take a rainout or two a year over a retractable roof stadium every time.

Still raining pretty steadily like it has been most of the day. Gonna be a wet one if they can get it in.

n Missouri, a small levee breach along the Missouri River flooded farmland southwest of St. Louis. The breach could prove beneficial for downriver towns because enough water will flow out of the river system to lower crest predictions on the other side of the breach, Fuchs said.

Still, residents of one of those downriver towns — West Alton, where about 500 people live — were urged to evacuate on Wednesday because the levee there was threatened by the swollen river. The town is about 20 miles north of St. Louis.

The levee at Valley Park, a St. Louis suburb on the Meramec River, was saturated but holding on Wednesday. In nearby Eureka, 250,000 sandbags filled by 2,000 volunteers over a three-day period also held up against the raging water, making the flood far less damaging than a similar flood in December 2015.

"We were able to save a lot a lot of homes and businesses that before we lost," Eureka Mayor Kevin Coffey said.

About 200 homes have been damaged in the area along the Meramec, but another 1,500 have remained dry thanks to levees and sandbags.

Dexter Fowler now hitting .160 in the first AB of a game, .400 in the second with an .840 SLG. He drove in two with a triple in the 2nd.

Brewers come back to tie it up, two outs in the 3rd.

Piscotty leaves with a hamstring injury. Jose Martinez replaced him immediately.

Now we've gone full C team. Diaz is now in LF. Greg Garcia into the game at SS. Grichuk to CF and Fowler out of the game after injuring his shoulder on a diving attempt earlier in the game.

Waino has been uncanny at how he's given a lead then immediately goes out & gives up much or all of it.

Todd Wellemeter's worst season here his ERA was 5.89 over 122IP.

Waino will do well to best that this season IMO.

How many clean innings has he pitched this season out of 29? Not many I bet.

Pham was pulled from the game in Memphis. So there's one move that will likely be made tomorrow morning.
