Gerrit Cole vs Longball Lance Lynn

Cole has thrown 7 strong inning in each of his lat two starts.

LLL hasn't made it thru 6 in any of his last 5 times out.

After serving up 4 bombs this past week in Baltimore LLL has already tied a career season high of 16, we've played 72 games.

So with Yadi being out a few games not long ago and needing some time now b/c of knee issues, why not put him on the 10 day DL and give him time to heal up. Call up Carson Kelly in the mean time.

Is it a clock issue with Kelly or something else I'm missing?

No the clock shouldn't be an issue if they are bringing him up for a couple weeks then likely sending back.

This game is a dumpster fire.

I hate to say it, but this team is an embarrassment...... ownership better be burning the midnight oil in hopes of fmaking some changes to improve the quality of play we have witnessed the past couple weeks. This has not been Cardinal baseball we all have come to love.

And why not add in another out on the bases for good measure?

LLL agaib can't get thru 6. Serves up another 7 ER & adds 2 more to his career-high season longball total.

I don't remember an edition of Cardinal baseball that has fallen down in nearly every aspect of the game in my lifetime. They just keep replaying the same record. Over and over. I've coached little league teams in the past and played on teams (in another lifetime) that have been more fundamentally sound and played with more pride.

I assume there is much soul searching going on. Also some frank, to the point discussions. No pussy-footing around. The onus is on everyone, but the players must turn this around on the field. Somehow make something happen to get that winning atmosphere & attitude back.

That's the good thing about this game. Today is another day and another opportunity to turn this train around and head in the right direction. Heck, as poorly as we've played no one is running away with the division. We're only "3" games out on the loss side. It's up to them to shake this losing direction, start believing in themselves and get back to having fun and....winning again.... 8-)

I keep waiting for someone to step up and sort of take the reigns. To be that leader this club seems to need. I really don't know who it'll be though. Everyone has struggled, so there's not really anyone to lead from their play thus far. It's got to start somewhere and with someone though, I'd figure Waino or Yadi but that doesn't seem to be happening.

I do hope that someone decides to do it. Like you guys have said, I can't remember watching Cardinals teams play this poorly in so many areas of the game.

Should have kept Holliday & Adams IMO.

Definitely agree with those. Holliday still aggravates me when I think about it. He may have been that veteran leader that is so desperately needed right now. Not to mention, he's having a pretty good year.

Adams isn't so bad to me because I don't think anyone could have predicted he'd have the season he's having. I did read somewhere though that supposedly a former teammate texted the Braves manager and said they knew he'd do this given the opportunity. Not sure if that's true but it does make you wonder why the FO was so set on Carp at first and not moving him back to 2nd/3rd and letting Adams have an everyday opportunity.
