....................................................................................................................................................................................

Zach Wheeler, RH, 3-5, 5.01 vs Waino, 9-5, 5.48

It is AMAZING that as lousy as Waino's been this year he's 9-5 and could mathematically get to 20 Wins with ease. Unreal.

Cards cannot get to .500 by the AS Break. If they can win these last 2 games they'll be 2 games under & at least 4.5 games back.

Cards up 2-1 in the 7th.

DeJong hit a solo shot and Molina drove him Pham for another.

Paul DeJong has quickly taken over control of the Cardinal career future of Aledmys Diaz.

Cards Win 4-1.

Wainwright earns 10th win of the season. Quite a recovery from his beginning of the season. Oh with the save. DeJong with 3 doubles & a HR on the day.

Solid day for the Cards.

No worries. He's just next year's Grichuk/Diaz. Doesn't walk, strikes out too much. Has enough power to intrigue us. About this time next year we'll be sending him to Memphis to "fix" something that can't be fixed by hitting coaches.

Maybe he sticks around if he proves to continue to perform defensively at SS. +2 defensive runs saved and +1.5 UZR in 111 innings. Compared to Diaz who is -9 defensive runs saved and -2.5 UZR in 589 innings this year.

Good point. A year ago I was posting my enthusiasm we'd found our 1st franchise SS since Renteria.
