..........................................................................................................................................................................

CMart, 6-8, 3.40 vs Trevor Williams, RH, 3-4, 4.80

Despite a stellar outing in the AS Game CMart is trending poorly, on a 3-game losing streak with a 5.73 ERA over his last 4 starts.

Williams has never faced the Cardinals, he threw quality starts in 3 of his last 4 games.

Prior to yesterday the Cards' starters have sucked on the road, going a lousy 3-8 with a 6.19 ERA over the prior 18 road games.

DeJong's hot streak has chilled to ice these past two games, need the young phenom to get smokin' again.

1B Carpenter .237
LF Pham .299
CF Fowler .248
3B Gyorko .300
C Molina .270
2B Wong .301
SS DeJong .313
RF Sierra .375
P Martínez .156

Cards take a 3-2 lead to bottom of 9th.

Cecil gets the call to close. Throws meatballs & lollipops, takes a Blown Save & Loss as Bucs score 2 to Walkoff.

Nice job. Again ..........................................................

Tuivailala or Brebbia on deck unless they just give the job back to Rosenthal. Three games we should have won. Squandered 2 of them....but we all know this. At least the Brewers lost.

Let's get the Sierra for RF campaign going.... ;)

Cecil got a chance to be closer in Toronto and stunk it up there too. Rosenthal and Oh can't be trusted either. Three highest paid relievers in the Cardinals pen can't be trusted to save a game. And I doubt we can put Siegrist on that list either at #4.

Meanwhile Tuivailala has spent three or four years as a closer in the minors being prepared for exactly this situation, is pitching well, and can't break out of mop up duty.

Sad, but it seems that mediocrity has become the acceptable norm these past 2 seasons.

There isn't a single person in that bullpen that I'd trust to hold an egg. Martinez battled his tail off today and deserved much better. This bullpen is an absolute mess.

I think the only real option Matheny, Girsch and Mo have is to make Waino the closer and bring Weaver up to take his spot in the rotation.

Or make a trade reminiscent of the 2011 trade that remade the bullpen at the deadline.

Whatever course they decide to take, something drastic needs to be done.
