Lucas Sims, RH, 0-2, 5.25 vs CMart, 8-9, 3.52

Sims is making his 3rd career start, he's 23 & the Braves' 2012 first-round pick. .

Last time out CMart went 8 innings, allowed only 2 runs & pitched a scoreless 1st inning.

I do hope that Matheny has given up on his fascination with Cecil and has realized he needs to be benched for the remainder of the season. Or better yet traded or DFA'd. Take the loss in this case. The guy, unfortunately, is awful.

Now go defeat the Braves. "8" is a serious number.

Brett's not going anywhere. They need to find an injury and put him on the shelf though. He's not even safe to use for mop-up duty right now.

Can the Cards get 8 or more tonight?

Bit of excitement in the 9th but Cards hold on for their 8th win in a row 6-5. Martinez evens his record @ 9-9. Rosenthal with the 32 pitch save. Grichuk w/ his 15th & DeJong's 17th proves to be the winning run.

Cubs trail the DBacks 4-0 in the 7th. Brewers tied 5-5 in the 9th.

Waking up to first place feels nice.
