Looks like all our eggs are going to be in the Wild Card basket. Thanks Brewers.

Pretty much always were in the WC basket.

One run losses and the reasons for the 1 run losses i.e.: poor base running, blown games by the bullpen and countless other fundamental mind blows are the culprit this season.

If the Brewers had swept the Cubs at home, the Brewers would have had a half game lead over the Cubs on Sunday night. And if the Cardinals had swept the Pirates, they'd be one game back of the Brewers. So all three teams within a game and the Cardinals would have four to play against the Cubs and three against the Brewers to finish the season. Win both series and you most likely win the division.

With the Wild Card, the Cardinals have to rely on a team they don't play to lose. And I never like those odds.

1B Matt Carpenter
LF Tommy Pham
CF Dexter Fowler
3B Jedd Gyorko
C Yadier Molina
SS Paul DeJong
2B Kolten Wong
RF Stephen Piscotty
RHP Lance Lynn

That looks like a classically Matheny lineup right there.

L

Lynn doesn't make it thru the 1st inning, 8ER in 2/3IP.

Fowler further solidifies his status as the worst defensive starting center-fielder in MLB when evaluated by TET.
