Everyone who has expressed interest has an invite to join the league. Still looking for two more RT users for a couple more days before we'll open it up.

I'll just throw this out there and feel free to shut it down, but in my 2 year experience playing in an auction league, that is the way to go for a draft. Anyone can get any player they want and you aren't limited based on what randomly assigned draft slot that you get. If you want the top 2 players, you can get them. If you want a fully balanced roster with no studs on it, you can do that.

It will make the draft last a little longer, but ESPN has good software for it and you can practice with auctions (as long or as short as you want to stay in them) in their mock draft lobby.

It really isn't hard to pick up (none of us had any experience with it before our first year doing it), there are plenty of auction values/rankings out there and if you search, you can find strategies for it. This will be the 3rd year of the auction draft league that we have with my friends and we will never go back to a regular snake draft. If we want to consider it and/or people have questions about it, feel free to ask. I'm far from an expert since I have only done 2 of them, but I know the good and bad of it. :D

Of course auction works better if everyone is there, but ESPN also does a decent job of autobidding if someone is gone as long as you set auction values before the draft so if someone can't make it, they should still get a pretty good team.

Invite sent for you Row, I also sent you an email asking for your son's email so I can get a league invite sent to him too.

craig1234 wants to play too and is 13th on the list. If we can get a 14th person to fill out the league, we'll roll with a 14 man league.

Hardy, I'll put the draft option on the poll I'll be sending out this week to schedule the draft.

And we're open. If someone has a friend who wants to jump in with us, first come, first served for that final 14th spot.

Re: 2015 Redbird Talk Fantasy Football (Full)

Postby R27 » Fri Aug 07, 2015 2:46 pm

drmeyer87 and craig1234 both have invites to be the 13th and 14th members of the inaugural Redbird Talk Fantasy Football League. That fills the board, though there will come a point that c4fl may lose his spot if he doesn't register his team and accept the invite, so there is still 1 waiting list spot available.

Just a couple quick notes:

If you're a member of the league, you can see our scoring rules. I didn't make many changes from the default except that TDs are always worth 6 points (some leagues have started reducing passing TDs to 4 points) and while losing a fumble is still worth -2 points it is split so a fumble is -1 and a lost fumble is another -1. I think I also boosted the points for a shutout considering how rare they are in the NFL.

Lineups are 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex (RB/WR/TE), 1 K, and 1 DEF as well as 6 bench spots.

The division you're in right now may not be the division you're in later. These will be shaken up based on a question asked in the survey, so it is important to answer it.

Either tonight or tomorrow, look for an email with a link to a survey on a couple league rule votes and draft preferences.

I won't be able to attend any kind of online draft due to my job but I have already pre-ranked the players, so I understand whoever I end up with is who I get & I'm alright with that :)

Just sent out the email with the link to the survey to set the final format and draft scheduling.

Hello everyone,

Thank you for playing the inaugural Redbird Talk Fantasy Football League season. It looks like we've got everyone signed up at the site and we're almost ready to get underway.

We do have a couple things remaining to be sorted out that I ask about in the Google Form. Please follow the link and fill it out as soon as possible. It won't take very long. It will help us decide a couple format questions and then sort the divisions and schedule the draft.

Thanks,

If I'm looking at this right, there are three people remaining to take the survey, cardsfan4life, EOCF, and Waino50.

We're right on the brink of a majority for the rules choices.

Yes, everyone is signed up. Just getting the survey back to set the last few items, set draft order, divide the league, and schedule the draft.

Still one final survey waiting on, but we've got enough votes that some things have been determined.

  • There will be 6 playoff teams, 3 from each conference.
  • In the event of a rare tiebreaker, bench points will be used to determine the victor.
  • We will utilize a snake-format draft.
  • The draft will take place on Sunday, August 30th. Time TBD.
