Haha. That name brings back good trading memories. I still think Dbacksfan is still pissed off about it. He calls "roids" every time it gets brought up. And he dropped Eversole, the key piece of his return, after two seasons and I signed him out of free agency and he became my starting shortstop and leadoff hitter for over a decade.

Well before my time in the league but wow I'd say that trade turned out well for one side!

There is my newb trade mistake. 2018 was my first season of CSFBL. I also regret missing Clyde Anderson in my first draft....

Ah, Clyde. the 2018 draft explains a lot about the league back then.

Carolina pre-rank: 1) Anderson, 2) Tucker, 3) West, 4) Wilks, 5) Gagne, 6) Gonzalez.

Age/Salary/Distribution was the best drafting tactic, but it was usually fairly accurate. Not many in the league really understood the game like now.

I don't think I knew Age/Salary yet, was just a couple weeks into playing the game, and was going purely off of the numbers I could see. I also said to myself that with Glassman and Nash at the time, I didn't need pitching (because apparently two pitchers are enough) and focused on hitting. I actually had Gutierrez ranked #1....my only saving grace there is that he did manage to pull in an MVP in 2025. Must have been a slow year for offense.

Yesterday, Boxer Robber veteran Gary McComb became the 98th player in CCH history to reach 3,000 hits. McComb adds this important milestone to his 10 Gold Gloves at 1B. The hope is that by the time McComb retires, he is the all time West Side hit king and sits somewhere within the top 50 for the league, which should put him within striking distance of the HOF.

But i'm serious, the dude has 3 errors in 27,405 career chances and hasn't made one in 15 years (2090) despite playing for one the heaviest ground-ball team in history outside of Peoria and Carolina.

Sure-fire Hall of Famer Smokey Geissler should also join the 3,000 hit club sometime next season as well.

Joseph Jones broke a record for most hits in a season. He finished 2nd in total AB in a season to Ron Purnell

Frank Rodriguez threw his first no hitter in a 1-0 win over West Side. Smokey Geissler, having a very nice season at age 41, provided all the offense against his former team with a solo HR in the 9th.

Also just noticed that Geissler recently went over the 3000 hit barrier, reaching it after going 3/5 against Galesburg on 5/6.

It was a 3-3 game when we went into extras. Saskatchewan scored in the top of the 10th, Vegas came back in the bottom. Saskatchewan scored in the top of the 11th, Vegas came back in the bottom. Saskatchewan scored in the top of the 12th, and Vegas came back and won it in the bottom. First time I've ever seen a team never die like that.

I don't know how I've done it yet, but Carolina has a $60,001,000 total payroll. We were way under the cap at 4/1 and signed a bunch of guys. Perhaps the game isn't as accurate is it would have you believe.

I know that can be done with a mix of FA signings and trades, but have never seen it happen with one or the other. Impressive.

Hmm. Seems like a rather simple calculation to screw it up like that. Curious.

i verified that i could bid exactly up to the cap. i verified that I couldn't bid $1,000 over the cap. then i told the dev team, they have since resolved it (not verified by me though).

what happened: periodically FAs adjust their salary demands, usually decreasing. Apparently (no data record to say 100%) in this case, of the 4 pitchers I signed, 1 or more of them increased their demand after I bid for them. The game automatically adjusted up the bid that I made on the players.

the dev team changed the query so players with offers will not change salary demands.

Wow. I knew their asking prices went down with time. Had no idea it would go up.

C Oscar Reed gets drafted in the 2nd round. Starts at catcher for the Aces 10 days later and begins his career with a single in the 2nd (and scored), a single in the 4th (and scored) and a home run in the 5th. And we needed all those runs in a 7-6 win over Carolina.

Final line: 3-for-4, 3 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI

Not a bad way to start your career.
